I wrote earlier about changing the station of your life if you don't like what's playing. But you can also change the picture! I just went through a powerful meditation process from Natalie Ledwell of MindMovies.com, which asked us to determine an immediate goal ($5,000, 20 lb. weight loss, two more hours of sleep a night, whatever it is for you), and then picture the block to obtaining that.
Deep in the guided meditation, I saw myself sitting on a beautiful beach, under a grove of cool, shady trees. Soft breeze blowing, gulls cawing, oh so peaceful. And I clearly saw a huge, thick brick wall between me and my goal, transparent so I could see the goal but not reach it. Natalie asked us to create another picture, up in the "corner of our vision," this one a concrete picture of ourselves enjoying the goal. I visualized that picture coming closer to me while at the same time the other blocked picture was receding. I felt a distinct struggle with this process, but per her direction I snapped the "good" picture into place. And in the process I actually felt an energetic release. I saw the "bad" picture fading, crumpling at the edges and finally disappearing. And I saw myself reaching for and obtaining the goal I'd set. Dancing around the beach, laughing in joy. What pictures would you put in these places? And how can you make the switch from the "unobtainable" to the "easily reached"?
